The Yandex team has announced a major update for its map service. Now, Yandex Maps users can choose pedestrian routes based on their preferences and specific situations. This was reported by Ixbt.com reports .
In addition to the traditional fastest route, the service offers options for different scenarios: a walking route through parks and landmarks, paths along busy streets, as well as "Easier" routes without steep slopes or stairs.
When necessary, Yandex Maps also displays routes such as "With ramps," "Fewer stairs," or "No stairs." This is especially convenient for travelers with strollers or suitcases.
Artificial intelligence is responsible for selecting route options. When a user selects a destination, the service uses AI to analyze the urban environment: for example, the presence of parks and alleys, elevation changes, the number of stairs, and street density are studied.
Algorithms determine which route variants are suitable for a specific path and then present them to the user for selection. This innovation is aimed at making urban navigation more convenient and personalized.
