The President signed the Law "On Amendments and Addenda to Certain Legislative Acts in Connection with the Adoption of the Newly Revised Constitution of Uzbekistan, Aimed at Strengthening the Guarantees of the Activities of the Courts and the Rights and Freedoms of Citizens."
According to the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code, all doubts regarding guilt, if all possibilities for their elimination have been exhausted, must be resolved in favor of the suspect, accused, defendant or convict.
Also, doubts arising during the application of the law must be resolved in favor of the suspect, accused, defendant or convict.
A suspect, accused or defendant is not required to prove his innocence and may exercise the right to remain silent at any time.
