Another major development may take place in the tourism, logistics, and digital services sectors of Uzbekistan. During his visit to London, the chairman of the Tourism Committee, Umid Shodiev, held a meeting with Gert-Jan Kistemaker, Global Director of Partner Markets at Bolt.
During the meeting, the prospects of the Bolt platform, which has successfully established itself in Europe and a number of countries around the world, launching operations in Uzbekistan were thoroughly discussed. The conversation included services ranging from taxi rides to food delivery, cargo transport, electric scooters, and other modern logistics solutions.
Both parties expressed confidence that the introduction of the Bolt platform would improve convenience not only for the local population but also for foreign tourists visiting the country. Providing fast, safe, and competitively priced services via mobile apps plays an important role in modernizing tourism infrastructure.
Notably, during the negotiations, the possibility of implementing a pilot project in one of Uzbekistan’s major cities — possibly Tashkent or Samarkand — was considered. In the initial stage, such a program would be tested for local conditions, legislation, and technical infrastructure, and could later be expanded to other cities.
Bolt is known to operate in more than 45 countries and serves millions of users. The platform is focused not only on calling taxis but also on providing convenient and eco-friendly urban mobility — including electric scooters, bicycles, and food delivery services.
During the meeting, Umid Shodiev stated that the government of Uzbekistan is open to attracting leading technological services, digitalizing tourism, and creating a user-friendly environment. According to him, the entry of international brands into the transport and logistics sectors contributes to increased domestic competition, improved service quality, and price stabilization.
The negotiations were held in a positive atmosphere, and both parties expressed interest in further developing cooperation. In the coming days, an analysis of Bolt's official pilot project in Uzbekistan and its experience in neighboring markets is expected, followed by practical steps.
If the project is successful, both Uzbek citizens and tourists will have broader opportunities to use modern urban transport. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
