639 fires, 5,350 hectares of damage - space reveals the truth
In Uzbekistan, incidents of illegal burning of land plots left after harvesting grain crops are on the rise. Such actions pose a significant threat not only to the environment but also to human health. Recently, in order to eliminate this problem, various levels of government bodies have intensified monitoring and control activities.

In this regard, within the framework of the state space monitoring program implemented by the "Uzcosmos" agency, burning activities across various regions of our country were observed via satellite. According to analyses conducted up to the end of June, a total of 639 illegal fire incidents were recorded in 10 regions, damaging 5,350 hectares of land.

Below are the number of fire incidents and the affected area by region:
Tashkent region — 27 incidents, 413.5 hectares
Syrdarya region — 32 incidents, 341.9 hectares
Jizzakh region — 7 incidents, 74.9 hectares
Bukhara region — 16 incidents, 96.3 hectares
Andijan region — 248 incidents, 2345.7 hectares
Fergana region — 13 incidents, 66.2 hectares
Namangan region — 3 incidents, 36.7 hectares
Surkhandarya region — 253 incidents, 1823 hectares
Khorezm region — 31 incidents, 99.5 hectares
Republic of Karakalpakstan — 9 incidents, 52 hectares

These figures indicate that the highest number of fires were recorded in Andijan and Surkhandarya regions. This confirms the widespread nature of the problem.

According to reports, many farmers and landowners prefer to burn straw and stalk residues on post-harvest fields as a quick and cheap disposal method. However, this practice not only harms nature but also violates the law.

According to Part 3 of Article 88 of the Administrative Responsibility Code, illegal burning of land is punishable with a fine of up to 10 times the base calculation rate for individuals. If the damage is significant, it may even lead to criminal prosecution.

Urgent information has been sent to the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, and other relevant bodies. At present, actions are being taken to identify and penalize those responsible.

Environmental experts emphasize that such cases pose a major threat to the future and call on farmers and the public to use land responsibly and adopt eco-friendly methods such as mulching and recycling residues.

Respecting nature, preserving its resources, and obeying the law are among the most important duties of today.
