Uzbekistan’s population has set another record, reported stat.uz. According to data from the National Statistics Committee, as of July 1, 2025, the number of permanent residents in the country reached 37,859,698 people. This indicator is significant as it has increased by 2 percent compared to the same period last year.
The statistics agency also provided detailed information on the population by gender and place of residence. According to this, the number of women reached 18.8 million and men 19.1 million. Thus, contrary to the general global trend, there are slightly more men than women in Uzbekistan.
The country’s urbanization processes also clearly illustrate the demographic picture: the number of urban residents reached 19.3 million, while the rural population is around 18.6 million. This shows that the urban population significantly exceeds the rural, and the urbanization process is steadily ongoing.
Experts emphasize that population growth means new demands are emerging in the economy, infrastructure, healthcare, and education systems. There is also a need for the creation of new jobs, the development of modern housing and transport infrastructure, and the implementation of measures to reduce demographic pressure.
Such changes in the field of demography, balance in the population structure, and the pace of urbanization will remain important for Uzbekistan in the future.
