In Tashkent region, large-scale practical exercises were held to eliminate emergencies related to air transport. They were attended by agencies such as the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard, the Ministry of Health, and the company “Uzbekistan Airports.”
In the Urta Chirchik district, at the paratrooper training center of the Ministry of Defense, the exercises were conducted according to the scenario of a major accident on an air route. According to the legend, as the passenger aircraft approached landing, communication between the control center and the crew was lost.
Loss of communication, major fire, and rescue operation
According to the scenario, as a result of the crash of the airliner outside the airport, a fire broke out, with fatalities and victims with varying degrees of injury. Dispatchers transmit information about the incident to the airport emergency rescue service, which in turn informs other relevant agencies. After that, the rescue operation begins.
About 250 specialists and 20 units of special equipment took part in these exercises. Rescuers and military personnel practiced skills in extinguishing fires, evacuating people from danger zones, sorting victims according to the severity of their condition, providing first aid, transporting them to medical facilities, as well as coordinated actions in unloading hazardous cargo from the aircraft.
Preparation for a real situation
According to “Uzbekistan Airports,” such exercises are held several times a year not only inside the airport but also outside its territory. Their purpose is to test and improve interagency cooperation mechanisms in real emergencies and to enhance staff skills in making quick and correct decisions.
At the end of the exercises, each stage was analyzed, and recommendations were given to make cooperation more effective. According to experts, Tashkent Airport and the relevant units are fully prepared to act in the event of a real disaster.
