A new procedure aimed at stimulating the spiritual development of convicts may be introduced in Uzbekistan. According to it, it is planned to reduce the sentence of convicts who read books.
Based on the initiative, the books read by the convict are evaluated and approved by a special commission. If the commission's conclusion is positive, this case will be submitted to the court.
After that, the court will be able to consider the issue of reducing the convict's sentence to 30 days per year. This benefit is applied individually in each case, taking into account the convict's behavior, discipline, and social security.
