Komilov explained: Why did Uzbekistan join the "Peace Council"?

Abdulaziz Kamilov, the president's foreign policy advisor, openly explained the reason behind Uzbekistan's decision to join the Peace Council. He emphasized that this step is primarily related to the compatibility of security factors and the goals of the initiative with the country's foreign policy priorities.
In an interview with the TV channel "Uzbekistan 24," Komilov listed three main factors that influenced the decision:
- first - security from the point of view of national interests,
- second - the correspondence of the goals and objectives of the Council to the principles of foreign policy,
- Third - the existence of vital interests of Uzbekistan in the Middle East region.
According to him, one of the most important areas on the agenda of the initiative is the elimination of the military-economic crisis in the Gaza Strip and the settlement of the situation. Kamilov also noted that this initiative was put forward by US President Donald Trump.
The advisor emphasized that attention to the Middle East is not limited to diplomatic or economic interests, and the changes taking place here are directly related to regional, global, and national security. In particular, it was stated that this direction is of constant importance for Uzbekistan due to threats of extremism: there were cases of some citizens joining various extremist groups and then returning to the country, and the state created conditions for their return and adaptation to society.
Komilov noted that this approach is also recognized at the international level and indicated that the UN leadership highly appreciates the humanistic policy of Uzbekistan.
There is another important point in the interview: tensions in the Middle East may also affect the security of Afghanistan. According to Kamilov, the international community - the USA, Arab and Muslim countries, as well as the countries of Central Asia - must work together to mitigate the problems.
In this context, the political and symbolic significance of the Uzbek leader's participation in the summit was emphasized: it signifies trust in the country and its authority in the international arena.
For information, on January 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed an agreement with Donald Trump on the Peace Council within the framework of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
The conclusion is this: Tashkent is approaching this issue not for a "trend," but with the logic of security and national interest. This means strengthening security in advance. In politics, just like in football - studying before the game, not after, brings you closer to not losing.
