The Central Bank clarified the misunderstanding surrounding P2P comments

On March 25, various reports spread on social networks that the Central Bank had canceled the requirement to indicate the target in P2P transfers. This caused a certain degree of misunderstanding and disputes among the public.

Commenting on this situation, the Central Bank's press service told Kun.uz that "the non-binding rule cannot be canceled, as it was voluntary from the beginning." The regulator also emphasized that this issue was previously misinterpreted.

It should be recalled that in an official letter sent to banks and payment organizations on February 17, it was noted that indicating the purpose of the transfer was established as a mandatory requirement, and if it is not executed by March 1, certain measures may be taken. This has formed the opinion among many that this requirement will be strictly implemented.

However, after public discussion and criticism, on March 5, the Central Bank's information service reported that this process was of a technical nature. According to it, 16 different target parameters introduced for P2P transfers are standard, and banks or payment services can use them at will, depending on the capabilities of their applications.

Also, some payment organizations and banks appealed to the regulator for further clarification after this statement. The Central Bank gave a clear answer: "This is voluntary. You can implement it if you want, or you can't."

It was after these comments that opinions appeared on social networks that "the requirement was canceled." In reality, it turned out that the issue was not about cancellation, but about a procedure that was not mandatory from the very beginning.

According to experts, such cases indicate how quickly misinterpretation of information spreads. In the future, it will be important to rely on official sources for any news in the financial sphere.
