In Uzbekistan, a flood risk alert has been issued for the next three days. According to "Uzgidromet" data, from April 7–9, heavy rainfalls are expected in the mountainous and foothill areas of the republic, potentially causing floods and water runoff.
The following areas are at risk:
- Kashkadarya region: Yakkabog, Dehkanabad, Chiroqchi, Kitob, Shahrisabz, Qamashi, G'uzor districts.
- Surxondaryo region: Sariosiyo, Uzun, Oltinsoy, Denov, Boysun, Sherobod, Shurchi, Qumqurg'on, Muzrobot districts.
- Samarkand region: Urgut, Samarkand, Bulung'ur, Nurobod, Qo'shrobot, Kattakur'gon, Payariq, Jomboy, Ishtixon districts.
- Navoi region: Khatirchi, Navbahor, Nurota, Konimekh, Karmana districts.
- Jizzakh region: Zomin, Baxmal, G'allarorol, Sharof Rashidov, Forish, Yangiobod districts.
- Tashkent region: Ohangaron, Bostanliq, Parkent, Piskent, Orta Chirchiq, Yuqori Chirchiq districts, as well as the cities of Angren and Olmaliq.
- Namangan region: Pop, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, Yangiqur'gon districts.
- Fergana region: So'x, Shohimgardon, Fergana, Beshariq districts.
- Andijan region: Andijan, Asaka, Jalakuduq, Qo'rg'ontepa, Paxtobod, Izboskan, Xo'jaobod, Marhamat districts and the city of Xonabad.
"We ask residents of the foothill and mountainous areas, vacationers, and drivers to take precautions," the official statement says.
Additionally, there is a possibility of rainwater accumulation throughout the republic, which could lead to flooding in some areas.
On April 5, a flood occurred in the Beruniy district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Due to heavy rainfall, water from the highlands flowed into the Sultan-Uwaysiy pilgrimage site, forming a flood. On the same day, strong rains in the G'allarorol district of Jizzakh region caused the safe flow of floodwaters.
Experts urge the population and tourists to remain cautious, avoid water flows, and refrain from visiting hazardous areas.
