President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Turkistan. The dialogue focused on the current state and future key directions of Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan relations.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to further strengthening the ties of friendship, good neighborliness, and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. The parties noted with satisfaction the consistent development of mutual trust and practical cooperation in recent years.
The leaders highlighted the positive growth in trade and economic relations. Increasing the volume of mutual trade, expanding cooperation between entrepreneurs, and promoting mutually beneficial projects for both markets are seen as key priorities.
Cooperation projects in industry, agriculture, and water management were also discussed. These areas are of strategic importance for both nations. In particular, the rational use of water resources, exchange of experience in the agrarian sector, and strengthening industrial cooperation are key factors for regional stability.
The parties also addressed the timely and high-quality implementation of previously reached agreements at the highest level. The need to accelerate major regional projects in energy and transport was noted.
In particular, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project was one of the key topics. Once implemented, this project will increase the region's transport potential, expand trade corridors, and open new economic opportunities for Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
At the end of the meeting, the presidents exchanged views on pressing issues of the regional agenda. Additionally, the schedule of upcoming high-level events was reviewed.
In short, the meeting in Turkistan demonstrated that the close cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan continues to strengthen. Areas such as trade, transport, energy, and water management are now of vital importance not only for the two countries but for the entire region.
