In Uzbekistan, the opportunity to officially hire staff for short-term periods in the cafe, restaurant, tourism, and hotel sectors is being introduced. This was established in the presidential decree "On creating more favorable economic and administrative conditions for the growth of small business entities."
According to the document, starting June 1, 2026, entrepreneurs providing catering services will be able to register certain categories of employees through a mobile application of labor authorities in a simplified manner. This means it will be possible to legally hire an employee for a single day or a specific short period on the same day and pay their wages.
This procedure is expected to be particularly convenient for cafes and restaurants. In the catering industry, there is often a need for additional staff during holidays, events, seasonal demand, or surges in customer flow. Now, in such cases, entrepreneurs will be able to register staff quickly and legally instead of hiring them informally.
Jahongir Abdiyev, Deputy Chairman of the Tax Committee, also provided clarification on this innovation. He stated that hiring for one day or one week is common in the catering, tourism, and hotel sectors. The new system will make this practice legal and simple.
"This creates the opportunity to register an employee on the same day, in exchange for daily or weekly wages," he said.
This procedure may serve to reduce excessive bureaucracy for small businesses, increase transparency in labor relations, and protect employee rights. Because the registered employee's wages, work activity, and legal status will be clearly recorded.
In short, from June 1, 2026, cafes and restaurants will be able to officially hire certain employees for short periods, such as a day or a week, in a simplified manner. This is convenient for both the business and the employee: work is done quickly, officially, and without the old "we just agreed verbally" regime.
