Russia launches major attack on Kharkiv using Shahed drones

Russia launched a major attack on Kharkiv and Kharkiv region using Shahed drones on the night of Saturday, March 1. Nine attacks were recorded in the city's Kiev, Shevchenko and Novobavar districts, local police reported on Telegram.

One of the drones hit a three-story medical building, causing a fire on the roof. Rescuers, police, medical workers and volunteers evacuated 64 people from the building, including 56 patients and one child.

Residential buildings, a shopping center, shops, a gas station, a car dealership and other civilian infrastructure were also damaged, Kharkiv regional police added. Several other places were also set on fire.

According to law enforcement agencies, at least seven people were injured in drone strikes. The Kharkiv regional military administration (KRA) said that all of the injured were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.

Kharkiv has been hit by drones twice before

On the evening of February 27, the Russian Armed Forces attacked the Kharkiv region's energy system with at least 12 suicide drones. Three people were injured, local officials said.
