America will create a defense system in space: a sensational plan from Trump!

United States President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the historic Golden Dome project, which involves sending weapons into space, on May 20. Al Jazeera reported.

Speaking to reporters gathered in the Oval Office of the White House, President Trump reminded the American people that he had promised to build a state-of-the-art shield capable of reliably protecting their homeland from ballistic and hypersonic missile attacks.

“I want to deliver another important message to the American people today. We have chosen the most advanced architecture of the Golden Dome system. This system will be able to effectively repel missile attacks launched from anywhere in the world, even from space. When it is operational, a new era in US security will begin,” Trump said.

As it turned out, this revolutionary system will consist of special sensors and interceptors deployed in space. They will detect any threat and neutralize missiles in space.

Just four months before Trump's announcement, the president signed a special order to develop this program. Currently, the project is overseen by the vice commander of the US Army Space Forces, General Michael Gatlin.

Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth called the program "a generational investment in American security" and stressed that it will radically change the country's defense capabilities.

Currently, the US Department of Defense is working on all the capabilities and requirements of the "Golden Dome". According to estimates by the Congressional Budget Office, the space components of the system alone could cost $ 542 billion over 20 years.

Trump, however, stated that this defense system should be fully operational by the end of his presidential term and announced that he would complete this task within three years. The president estimated the total cost of this program at $ 175 billion. Currently, it is planned to allocate at least $ 25 billion at the initial stage.

Meanwhile, it has not yet been disclosed which companies will be involved in the "Golden Dome" system. However, it was said that this project is expected to develop the industry in such US states as Alaska, Indiana, Florida and Georgia.
