Which city in the world is the most preferable and prosperous to live in? The “Best Cities to Live In” ranking, published annually by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), gives a clear answer to this question. According to the 2025 analysis, the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, was named the world’s best city. CNN reports that this city scored the highest in stability, education, and infrastructure, taking first place in the global ranking.

Today, Copenhagen stands out not only in Europe but also worldwide for its quality of life, safety, modern urban planning, and healthy environment. The Economist analysts evaluated 173 major cities according to several criteria: healthcare, education, infrastructure, stability, and environmental condition. This year, Copenhagen, which took first place, demonstrated high performance in all areas and managed to become a worthy competitor to Vienna, which led the ranking for the past three years.

This time, Vienna was limited to second place. The main reason was the decline in the city’s security index after a bomb threat at a Taylor Swift concert in 2024. Swiss cities Zurich and Geneva, which scored close to Vienna, also succeeded in entering the top 3 and top 5.

Australia once again confirmed its reputation in this ranking: Melbourne took fourth place, Sydney sixth, Adelaide ninth. Japan’s Osaka was seventh, New Zealand’s Auckland eighth, and Canada’s Vancouver completed the top ten.

It should be noted that Calgary, which was fifth in 2024, dropped to 18th place this year due to problems in the country’s healthcare system. Toronto also fell several spots. For cities overall, post-pandemic stability, social security, and the importance of state infrastructure have become even more pronounced.

Unfortunately, the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, ranked among the lowest in the ranking. The city was evaluated in the 50–60 range on a 100-point scale. This shows that there is still much work to be done in the areas of infrastructure, healthcare, and public services.
