The Russian Federation is taking a new step in the field of armaments. According to President Vladimir Putin, serial production of the medium-range ballistic missile “Oreshnik” has begun in the country. He noted that this modern missile has demonstrated its high effectiveness on the battlefield.
“Modernizing the army and navy from a technical standpoint remains one of our top priorities. Special attention is paid to further strengthening the nuclear triad,” Putin said. According to him, in 2025, new “Yars” missiles and modernized Tu-160M missile carriers will be delivered to the Russian Strategic Missile Forces.
The “Oreshnik” missile is one of the latest technical achievements in Russia’s military arsenal, and its serial production will serve to further expand the country’s strategic capabilities. Putin described this missile as “having performed very well in combat conditions.”
The Navy is also not left out of attention. It is planned to introduce a new generation of ships and submarines equipped with high-precision weapons into the Russian fleet. According to the head of state, pressure from Western countries and NATO forces Russia to further strengthen its defense capabilities.
“NATO is expanding its military potential through new programs, with alliance member countries sharply increasing their expenditures. As a result, the global arms race is intensifying even more,” Putin said.
According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), by the beginning of 2025, Russia will have 592 strategic missile carriers. Among them are 206 “Yars”, 78 “Topol-M”, 34 “Avangard”, and 34 “Voivoda” missiles.
Each “Yars” missile is equipped with four warheads, each with a yield of 250 kilotons. Such an arsenal serves as a guarantee of the country's military potential and sovereignty.
This large-scale modernization undertaken by Russia may have a significant impact on the global military balance. Domestic and international analysts continue to closely monitor these developments. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
