Are we on the verge of a new geopolitical storm? In the U.S., information has spread that President Donald Trump is considering the possibility of delivering long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles to Ukraine, according to washingtonpost.com.
According to reports, on July 11, the U.S. government discussed the future of the Tomahawk missiles. These missiles had previously been used in airstrikes against Iran. Therefore, transferring them to Ukraine could bring significant political and military changes. So far, these weapons have not been included in the official list of aid to Ukraine, but the situation may change drastically in the near future.
In addition, Pentagon sources revealed that the U.S. government may lift range restrictions on the ATACMS missiles currently held by Ukraine. If this happens, Ukrainian forces will be able to strike targets at distances up to 300 km. This would open the door to targeting many military facilities within Russia.
One conversation in particular sparked wide discussion — between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky. According to WP, Trump asked: “Why aren't you striking Moscow?” To which Zelensky replied: “If you give us enough weapons, we can do it.” Following that, Trump stated that Ukraine should target not only Moscow but also St. Petersburg.
On July 14, it was announced that the U.S. and the European Union had agreed to deliver weapons to Kyiv. Among them may be Patriot systems and compatible missiles, as well as potentially offensive weapons.
Sources from Axios indicated that the new military aid package could include long-range missiles capable of reaching targets in Russia. If that happens, the Ukrainian army would, for the first time, possess weapons that pose a threat to Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The situation on the global stage may escalate further. Because such decisions affect not only Russia–Ukraine relations but also the entire Eurasian security landscape. Everything now depends on U.S. political decisions and Russia’s response. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
