An unexpected change occurred in one of Syria's consistently unstable regions – the Suwayda province. Representatives of the country’s interim government reported that tribal forces have completely withdrawn from the city of Suwayda, which is considered the center of the province. This was announced by the Interior Ministry spokesperson Nureddin al-Baba.
According to him, the efforts of the Syrian Ministry of Internal Affairs to implement the ceasefire agreement and stabilize the situation have borne fruit. As a result, tribal forces were forced to retreat, and the city has now been brought under government control.
Additionally, according to ministry officials, government-affiliated forces have been deployed to the northern and western parts of Suwayda province. This is being evaluated as the next step toward strengthening security measures and restoring peace and stability in the region.
This news from Suwayda has drawn attention not only within the country but also among international political analysts. Because the retreat of such powerful tribal structures fundamentally changes the balance of power in that area.
According to experts, the strategic negotiations conducted by the ministry and the deployment of forces have enabled the government to strengthen control not only over the city but over the entire region.
At the moment, all eyes are on the government’s next move. The extent of the tribal forces’ full withdrawal, their future actions, and the government’s strategic plans for controlling the area – all of these will become clear in the coming weeks. One thing is certain: a new political balance is forming in Suwayda. Read 'Zamin' on Telegram!
