Thai and Cambodian leaders to hold talks to end border conflict
Thai and Cambodian leaders have agreed to hold talks in Malaysia to end the deadly border conflict. The decision came following pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump. The four-day-long clash has killed at least 34 people and displaced more than 168,000.

According to Thai Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Jirayu Huangsap, Acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai will attend the talks at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. Cambodian leader Hun Manet is also expected to participate.

On Saturday, Trump warned both leaders that trade agreements would be halted if the conflict continued. He later announced that both sides agreed to negotiate.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said his country was ready for an “immediate and unconditional” ceasefire. Thailand responded cautiously, emphasizing the need for “sincere intention” in the talks.

The clashes began Thursday after a landmine explosion, with both sides blaming each other.

So far, 21 Thais and 13 Cambodians have been reported killed. Among the evacuees are women, children, and even livestock.
