US President Donald Trump combined his three main priorities — golf, personal business interests and global politics — during his “private visit” to Scotland.
Trump not only relaxed at his golf resorts in Turnberry and Balmedie but also actively promoted them. These locations hosted key press conferences and meetings, especially with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
During the visit, Trump announced one of the largest trade deals in US-EU history. Under the deal, Europe will buy billions of dollars worth of American energy and military equipment, while also investing in the US economy. In return, European goods will face a 15% tariff in the US — significantly lower than the 30% Trump had previously threatened.
In talks between Trump and Starmer, humanitarian issues in the Gaza Strip were discussed. In response to the Prime Minister's request, Trump said the US would work with the UK and Europe to establish food supply centers for Gaza.
Trump also sharply changed his position on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, stating that he now gives Russia only 10–12 days to agree to a ceasefire. “There’s no use waiting,” he said.
During this trip, Trump had the opportunity to strengthen his political position, promote his business interests, and boost his influence on the global stage. This unique approach — merging politics with personal branding — remains a hallmark of Trump's leadership.
