"If the birth rate doesn't increase and the population doesn't recover, Europe may weaken and disappear within a few years." The world-renowned American billionaire and innovative entrepreneur Elon Musk shared his thoughts on the social network "X."
The businessman's opinion was expressed in response to a report by American Senator Mike Lee, who provided statistical data on the number of births and deaths in Scotland. According to the senator, in the period from January to July of this year, 26.3 thousand people were born in the country, while the number of deaths was 35.2 thousand.
Elon Musk wrote in his post: "Europe will disappear if the birth rate doesn't return to at least the level of population renewal." His words demonstrate how serious the problem of the population and social trends are.
Citing reports from the French National Institute of Statistics (INSEE), Franceinfo reported on July 23 that the number of deaths per year in France exceeded the number of births for the first time since 1945. This data is considered the first accurate indicator of a decrease in the birth rate and demographic decline among the European population.
According to the report, INSEE representatives plan that the negative dynamics may continue until 2035. Demographic analysts emphasize that European countries should pay special attention to fertility-encouraging programs and social policies. Musk's opinion points to the same trend: if births don't recover, it will be difficult to maintain a healthy and stable society on the continent.
