At the meeting, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, discussed issues of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Putin, at the beginning of his speech, emphasized that relations between the two states are developing steadily, and announced a record figure regarding the number of Russians traveling to Turkey.
“Among the tourists visiting Turkey, Russian citizens take first place. This year, more than 6.7 million Russians visited Turkey. This is 6.3 percent more compared to last year,” said Putin.
President Erdoğan also positively assessed the relations between the two countries, stressing that cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, investment, tourism, and energy is consistently expanding.
“We are interested in further developing dialogue with Russia based on mutual trust. We will continue joint efforts for the prosperity of both our nations,” said Erdoğan.
During the meeting, the situation related to the crisis in Ukraine was also discussed. Putin especially acknowledged Turkey’s efforts in striving for peace and seeking a diplomatic solution.
“We regard Turkey as a reliable partner, tested by time. Its constructive role in various international arenas is highly valued,” said the President of Russia.
