Another high-profile event was recorded in the US Congress. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform has released over 33,000 documents related to the case of American financier Jeffrey Epstein. She was accused of child abuse and sexual exploitation.
According to reports, these materials were obtained from the US Department of Justice in August. However, during the publication of the documents, some information was kept confidential so as not to harm the privacy and safety of the victims.
Committee Chairman, Kentucky Republican James Comer, stated:
"We will try to find answers to all questions and strive to do so as soon as possible," he said.
As a reminder, Jeffrey Epstein was arrested by New York law enforcement on July 6, 2019. According to the prosecutor's office, between 2002 and 2005, she recruited dozens of underage girls into her Manhattan home. The youngest of them was only 14 years old.
The investigation revealed that Epstein had close ties with influential figures not only in the US but also in many countries around the world. Among his friends and acquaintances were former heads of state, major businessmen, politicians, and show business stars.
However, the case against the financier was not completed. On August 10, 2019, official information was circulated that he committed suicide in a prison cell. Thus, criminal prosecution against him was terminated.
The public and journalists note that many questions surrounding this case remain open. In particular, the names of influential people associated with him, some confidential information, and his mysterious death are still causing widespread discussion.
