President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, after participating in the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, made radical changes in the sphere of foreign policy.
It became known that Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu, Assistant to the President on International Affairs Erzhan Kazykhan, and Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the USA Erzhan Ashikbayev were dismissed from their posts.
Yermek Kusherbayev, who previously served as Deputy Prime Minister, has been appointed as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs. While the exact reasons for the president's decision have not been disclosed, politicians link this change to the US trip.
