On Thursday, October 2, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the return of 185 Russian servicemen from Ukrainian-controlled territories. As a result of this exchange, 185 prisoners of war were handed over to Ukraine by Russia. There was also an exchange between representatives of the civilian population.
According to Russian State Duma deputy Shamsail Saraliev, the Russian side has returned 20 civilians and received the same number of citizens in return. He said that "the exchange is complete," he said in an interview with RBK news agency.
The Russian Ministry of Defense added that the returned servicemen and civilians are located in the Republic of Belarus and are receiving psychological and medical assistance. All returned Russians will undergo a medical examination and be taken to Russia for rehabilitation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also confirmed the news regarding the exchange of prisoners with Russia.
