Chinese scientists are working on developing tablets capable of significantly extending human life, reports The New York Times.
According to the information, Lonvi Biosciences, a startup based in Shenzhen, China, is conducting research in longevity medicine and the slowing of the aging process. The main ingredient of the new tablets is procyanidin C1 (PCC1), an extract derived from grape seeds.
Experiments on mice have shown promising results. Studies indicate that this compound increased the rodents’ lifespan by an average of 9.4 percent and extended their active life phase by nearly 64 percent.
Liu Qinghua, the company’s technical director, emphasized that this technology could eventually be applied to humans.
“Reaching 150 years of age is a scientifically achievable goal. I believe it will become reality in the near future,” he said.
Experts note that if the trials prove successful, this research could mark the beginning of a new era in humanity’s fight against aging.
