Secret talks in the Kremlin: a 27-point plan and a cancelled meeting!

Principle of five hours of communication and silence

On the evening of December 2, Donald Trump's special representative, Stephen Whitkoff, and Jared Kushner, held talks with Vladimir Putin in Moscow, which lasted almost five hours. Following the meeting, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that the parties "have agreed to keep the content of the negotiations confidential." He only confirmed that the Americans had submitted the "27-point document" and four additional documents, but refused to explain their essence.

Major territorial disagreements

Ushakov specifically addressed the issue of "the most important" territories and said that no mutual agreement has been reached on this issue yet. The presidential aide said that some American developments are "somewhat acceptable," but others are "not suitable" for Russia. "The President also openly expressed our critical and even negative attitude towards a number of proposals," Ushakov emphasized.

At today's briefing, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov reiterated that Moscow will continue to adhere to the principle of silence within the framework of the peace process and "the more peacefully these negotiations will be conducted, the more effective they will be." He explained that it is wrong to say that Putin's US plan was rejected.

Expensive lunch and Rubio's confirmation

Due to the lack of concrete results of the meeting, the Russian media paid special attention to the dinner of Whitkoff and Kushner, who visited the Savva restaurant near the Kremlin before the negotiations. According to the restaurant director, the Americans really liked the crustacean-flavored posikunchik (mini-cheburek) and cheese bread.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in an interview with Fox News, confirmed that the main disagreements are about who owns Donbas. According to Rubio, the goal of the US is to find conditions that Ukrainians can agree to, which will give them security guarantees in the future.

Meeting with Zelenskyy canceled

Following the Kremlin talks, Whitkoff and Kushner were scheduled to travel to a European country known to be Belgium, where they would meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, today American journalist Alex Rafoglu, citing his sources, wrote that this meeting was canceled, which once again demonstrated the complexity of peace efforts.
