Germany is ready to accept more than 500 Afghans from Pakistan

The German government has announced its readiness to accept 535 Afghan citizens who are currently in a difficult and uncertain situation in Pakistan. This was officially stated by Germany’s Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt.
According to reports, these Afghan nationals left their homeland in August 2021, following the Taliban’s takeover of power, due to concerns over their safety. They are currently residing temporarily in Pakistan, but their legal status remains unclear.
Among those expected to be accepted are Afghans who cooperated with the German Bundeswehr, as well as with other international and government organizations. The list also includes human rights defenders and activists who advocated for women’s rights.
Alexander Dobrindt emphasized that Germany is interested in accepting these individuals as soon as possible, noting that the decision is based on humanitarian principles.
Earlier, the Pakistani government demanded that Germany accept the Afghans by the end of December, otherwise warning of possible deportation back to Afghanistan.
