Historic bridge blown up in the USA
The 94-year-old Black Hawk Bridge over the Mississippi River in the USA was deliberately blown up. The bridge, built in 1931, connected the city of Lansing in Iowa with the state of Wisconsin. The structure was notable for its central arch and two metal supports.

The Black Hawk Bridge was famous for its central arch and tall metal supports. However, its narrowness often caused traffic accidents, and sometimes cargo ships collided with it due to the river’s layout and the placement of supports.

Construction of a new bridge to replace the old one began in 2023 and is planned to be completed by spring 2027. During construction, the Black Hawk Bridge was closed twice to traffic for safety reasons.

Until the new bridge opens, a ferry service will be organized to transport residents across the river. These measures aim to ensure transport safety and the convenience of local residents.
