Meat prices increased: Kazakhstan explained the reason

Meat prices in Kazakhstan remain high due to active exports to neighboring countries, especially to Uzbekistan. This was reported by “Belles.kz”, citing Deputy Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Taszhurekov.
Journalists asked the deputy minister why Kazakhstanis still do not feel a decrease in prices despite billions of funds being invested in state programs for the development of livestock farming. Yerbol Taszhurekov stated that there is no shortage of meat in Kazakhstan, but prices remain high because a large part of beef is exported to foreign markets.
According to him, large volumes are exported to nearby countries, particularly Uzbekistan. This is explained by the high demand for Kazakhstan’s meat products.
According to the deputy minister, about 430 thousand tons of meat are produced in Kazakhstan, while the domestic market demand is about 400 thousand tons. The remaining meat products are exported.
At the same time, it was stated that within the next three years a comprehensive plan will be adopted to give additional momentum to the development of livestock farming in the country.
