Can acid rain reach Central Asia?

Reports are circulating on social networks that "acid clouds" have appeared in the sky of Iran, which may reach the countries of Central Asia and cause acid rain. Experts emphasize that this information has no scientific basis.
It is reported that acid precipitation occurs as a result of the long-term accumulation of sulfur oxides (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NO2) in the atmosphere and their chemical reaction with water vapor in the clouds. Such cases are usually observed around large industrial areas or areas where waste is directly discharged.
Experts explain that during the movement of air masses over long distances, the amount of pollutants rapidly decreases due to mixing and settling processes in the atmosphere. Therefore, the formation of dangerously acidic precipitation is practically impossible thousands of kilometers from the source.
Also, precipitation is mainly associated with the formation of local clouds. That is, rain or snow is formed on the basis of water vapor and aerosols present in the atmosphere above the territory.
