Iran warned its satellite partners

Iran has warned that countries and institutions cooperating with the independent satellite channel Iran International could face military consequences. According to a statement circulated by the broadcaster and cited by regional media, Tehran said facilities and infrastructure linked to the channel may be added to a list of potential military targets if such cooperation continues. Reports Tengrinews.kz.

Iran International, which broadcasts from the United Kingdom, uses the TürkmenÄlem 52E/MonacoSat satellite owned by Turkmenistan. The same satellite is also used by dozens of other television and radio channels. The broadcaster said earlier direct warnings had been sent to Turkmenistan and Monaco, where satellite-related infrastructure involved in transmitting its signal is located.

The channel cited Iranian state media reports quoting an unnamed representative of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya air defense command. In those remarks, Iran International was accused of spreading false information and conducting psychological warfare against Iran in line with the interests of the United States and Israel. The official warned that any party continuing to support the broadcaster could be treated as a target by the Islamic Republic.

Separately, Tehran also warned Romania that it could become involved in the conflict if it allows the United States to use military bases on Romanian territory for operations against Iran. The warning came after Romania’s parliament on March 11 approved the deployment of additional US military units and aircraft in the country.
