Strait of Hormuz may open: Trump makes new statement

US President Donald Trump stated that he does not rule out the possibility of the reopening of the strategically crucial Strait of Hormuz in the near future. He touched upon this during a conversation with journalists.
The White House leader emphasized that if all processes proceed according to plan, sea navigation could be fully restored in the coming days. Trump believes that joint US and Iranian control over this route is also possible.
The American leader also paid special attention to the ongoing negotiations with Iran. According to him, as a result of "effective and constructive" dialogue, Washington has so far postponed the plan to strike Iran's energy infrastructure.
It has been reported that Trump's special representatives, Steve Whitkoff and Jared Kushner, held talks with a high-ranking Iranian official on the evening of March 22nd. The parties expressed interest in reaching a possible agreement and agreed to continue contacts.
However, Trump is still being cautious about the outcome of the negotiations. He said that if the agreement is reached, the problem can be solved peacefully. Otherwise, the US will not back down from its position and will continue to exert pressure.
Iranian officials deny this information, stating that there has been no direct or indirect contact with the US leader so far.
The Strait of Hormuz is of decisive importance for the global energy market. Through it, the restoration of oil and gas supplies can lead to a decrease in prices in the global market, as well as a decrease in fuel prices.
Recall that on March 3, Iran announced the closure of this strait. The country's military stated that force could be used against any vessels attempting to pass through this area.
Meanwhile, this issue remains relevant in the international arena. In particular, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that member states are discussing the issue of jointly opening the strait. According to some reports, the US is also considering the situation around Hark Island to put pressure on Iran.
In short, the geopolitical games around the Strait of Hormuz are becoming even more acute. And the coming days can be decisive not only for the fate of the region, but also for the entire global energy market.
