Trump administration categorizes NATO member states into 'good' and 'bad' groups

A new wave of controversy has emerged in the United States surrounding a contentious document. It has been revealed that the Donald Trump administration has prepared a special analysis categorizing NATO member states into groups based on their stance regarding a potential war with Iran.

Developed by the administration under Donald Trump's leadership, this document provides a comprehensive evaluation of each ally's contribution to the alliance, as well as their military and political positions. Consequently, countries are reportedly divided into three conditional categories. However, the specific classification of each nation has not been disclosed.

This information was published by Politico, citing several European diplomats and sources within U.S. military circles. The sources noted that the document was prepared ahead of Mark Rutte's visit to Washington.

According to observers, such "ranking" indicates Trump's attempt to intensify his policy of pressure within the alliance. Relations may particularly harden toward states that do not fully support the U.S. position.

At the same time, diplomatic sources noted that there is no concrete action plan regarding countries classified as "bad" in the document. Some experts state that the most extreme scenario mentioned is the option of withdrawing U.S. troops from certain countries. However, it is emphasized that such a decision could also have negative consequences for Washington itself.

White House representatives indirectly confirmed the existence of such a document, stating that while the United States is always ready to assist its allies, it was explicitly mentioned that certain countries did not provide support regarding the Iran issue. According to them, this situation is being assessed as an "unfair balance."

NATO has refrained from providing an official comment on the matter.

Experts believe that such documents could affect trust within the alliance and raise serious questions about future cooperation international formats. Especially at a time of escalating geopolitical tensions, such a "segregation policy" is likely to serve as a test for NATO unity.
