Moscow Parade Scaled Back: Russia Blames Ukraine

The traditional military parade held on May 9 in the Russian capital, Moscow, to mark "Victory Day" will be organized in a more compact format than usual this year. This was announced by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, the reduction of the parade program is linked to the "current operational situation" and the need to strengthen security measures. Officials explained this decision by citing potential threats from Ukraine.
It is noted that the display of military equipment and the participation of cadets will be canceled in this year's event. “We are taking all necessary measures to reduce risk. Therefore, the parade will be held in a more simplified form,” Peskov said.
Nevertheless, according to tradition, the event will take place on Red Square in central Moscow. Officials emphasized that the "Victory Day" celebrations will not be completely canceled, but security remains the priority task.
According to observers, this year's changes indicate increased security measures against the backdrop of the tense situation in the region.
