Tesla surpassed Mercedes in sales for the first time in history

For the first time in Tesla's history, the electric vehicle manufacturer surpassed one of the world's automotive industry giants - Mercedes-Benz - in sales figures.

In the third quarter of this year, Tesla sold 497,099 cars, while Mercedes managed to sell 441,500 cars. Thus, the company headed by Elon Musk sold 12.6% more than its competitor.

Interestingly, Mercedes sales during this period decreased by 12.3% compared to the previous year, while Tesla, on the contrary, saw a 7.4% increase.

According to automotive industry analysts, Tesla's results have once again confirmed the growing demand for electric vehicles worldwide. Also, the energy efficiency and pricing policy of the company's models are attracting buyers.

For reference, Mercedes-Benz produced its first car in 1901, and Tesla in 2004. Nevertheless, Tesla quickly became one of the leading brands in the market.
