Tesla's position in the electric vehicle market began to decline

One of the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturers, Tesla, recorded its biggest financial decline in its history in the third quarter of 2025. According to the company's report, net profit decreased by 37% compared to the same period last year.

According to the results for the three-month period from July to September, Tesla's global net profit amounted to $1.37 billion. This figure is almost half of the $2.17 billion recorded in the same period in 2024.

The company also analyzed the overall results from the beginning of the year to the end of September and found a 37% decrease in total revenue. Tesla explained this situation mainly by increased US customs duties, problems in some supply chains, and large expenses for internal reorganization processes.

Analysts believe this situation may not be easy for the company next quarter. They say that the increase in sales observed in September was temporary and it is possible that this rate will slow down in the coming months.

At the same time, Tesla began to lose its leading position in the global electric vehicle market. The Chinese corporation BYD, the company's main competitor for many years, has surpassed Tesla in terms of indicators this year. Currently, BYD occupies a leading position in the market, having gained a dominant position in global electric vehicle sales.

Financial market observers are paying close attention to Tesla's results for the next quarter. They emphasize the need for the company to withstand competition by stabilizing net profit, strengthening the presentation of new models, and introducing energy-saving technologies.

Meanwhile, a Tesla representative told Reuters that the company plans to improve economic indicators by the end of the year by restoring demand in the US and European markets, as well as expanding sales of the Model 3 and Cybertruck.

As experts note, competition in the electric vehicle market is intensifying year by year. If Tesla fails to maintain technology and price balance in the new generation of products, the dominance of BYD and other Asian manufacturers may be further strengthened.
