Hidden door handles are officially banned in China

China will officially ban sliding, hidden, and "smart" door handles in cars starting January 1, 2027. From now on, all newly produced vehicles will be required to be equipped only with mechanical handrails.

This decision was made after a number of tragic road accidents and fires. Due to a malfunction in the electronics, in some cases the doors did not open, as a result of which people died in the salon. Experts emphasize that such traps pose a real threat to human life.

Today, about 60% of popular electric and hybrid cars in China have latent door handles. Therefore, this change is considered not only a technical solution, but also a public safety measure.

Manufacturers who do not comply with the new requirements will lose the right to sell their cars in the Chinese market.
