Jaguar officially announces its new Type 01 electric vehicle

Jaguar has confirmed that its new era-defining electric super-GT will be named Type 01. With over 1000 horsepower, this sports sedan marks the brand's first step toward becoming a pure electric luxury vehicle manufacturer. Previously known by the codename Type 00 or X900, the model will now enter the market as the Type 01. This is reported by Autocar.co.uk .
Company representatives state that the "Type" prefix signifies the continuation of legendary models such as the 1951 Le Mans-winning C-Type, as well as the D-Type, E-Type, and F-Type. The "0" represents the zero-emission powertrain, while the "1" denotes that it is the first car of Jaguar's new era.
Type 01 prototypes will be showcased during the Formula E races in Monaco. The official unveiling is expected in the coming months, with a market launch scheduled for the first half of 2027. This marks the end of Jaguar's hiatus following the discontinuation of the F-Pace crossover.
The new model's price is expected to start at approximately £120,000, potentially exceeding £150,000 for higher trims. With this pricing strategy, Jaguar aims to occupy the segment between premium brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz and luxury marques like Bentley and Aston Martin.
In the future, Jaguar is expected to introduce Type 02 and Type 03 large limousine and crossover models based on its new JEA platform.
