New UMO 8 hybrid crossover to be produced at the Moskvich plant

The Russian company EM Rus, in partnership with Yandex, has begun certification of the UMO 8 crossover, the second model of the UMO brand. The new vehicle features an all-wheel-drive series hybrid system, where the gasoline engine acts solely as a generator to charge the battery. The official presentation of the model is scheduled for this summer. This is reported by Ixbt.com .

According to EM Rus founder Ilya Rashkin, the UMO 8 will be a "large car" aimed at the mass market. The process of obtaining Vehicle Type Approval (OTTS) is currently underway. Production will be organized at the Moskvich plant in the capital. As a reminder, the UMO 5 electric crossover is also currently being assembled at this facility.

According to technical specifications, the power of the UMO 8's electric motors is 100–130 hp (peak power will be significantly higher), and the traction battery capacity is 75–124 Ah. Experts believe the new model may be based on large crossovers such as the GAC S7, GAC S9, or Xpeng GX.

The new crossover will be available in Max and Ultra trim levels. The top version will feature a head-up display, an advanced driver assistance system, and a premium audio system. The project is fully integrated with Yandex services, and the multimedia system will include the Alice voice assistant and a 4G module. Although prices have not yet been announced, it is clear that it will be more expensive than the UMO 5 model.
