New Volkswagen ID Polo GTI: An Electrified Legend

The Volkswagen GTI sub-brand has struggled to find its footing over the last decade. After experimenting with GTE and GTX models, the German manufacturer has finally taken a bold step to preserve GTI traditions in the era of electromobility. The new Volkswagen ID Polo GTI, showcased in the Brecon Beacons, is a vivid expression of these changes. According to Autocar.co.uk reports.
The seventh-generation Polo is now transitioning to full electric power. By integrating its traditional models into the ID family, Volkswagen is making electric vehicles the center of its portfolio. The fact that the new model is named GTI rather than GTX indicates that it retains the true 'hot hatch' spirit of the 1976 Golf GTI.
The car produces 223 horsepower, combining daily usability with high dynamics. A team led by Florian Umbach, Volkswagen's head of driving dynamics, is finalizing the software tuning, taking into account the unique characteristics of British roads.
The first units of the new model are expected to be delivered to customers in Germany by late 2026 and in the UK by spring 2027. With this model, Volkswagen aims to prove that electric cars can provide genuine driving pleasure and that the future of the GTI brand is bright.
