Mercedes belonging to Marilyn Monroe put up for auction

In the United Kingdom, a 1950 Mercedes-Benz 170 S has been put up for auction. According to Iconic Auctioneers, the actress Marilyn Monroe used this car.

The car can reach a maximum speed of 122 km/h and is one of the few post-war Mercedes vehicles that have been preserved.

The starting price is estimated between 120,000 and 160,000 pounds sterling (approximately 161,000–215,000 US dollars). This is significantly higher than the average market price of the Mercedes 170 S model, but the fact that it belonged to Monroe greatly increases its value.

According to information, the car was found in Greece and for a long time its connection to the actress was not confirmed. Later, evidence was found suggesting Monroe used it — including a bag with her initials and an insurance document.

It is also reported that in 1956 Marilyn Monroe traveled across Greece in this exact model. Later, the sedan was restored. Today, the car is in good condition with its original engine, and its mileage is approximately 70,000 kilometers.
