A new ranking of the number of millionaires in the world and their share among the population has been compiled. According to the results of the study, Switzerland ranks first in the world in terms of the share of millionaires among the population.
According to the data, 16.45 percent of the adult population in Switzerland has net assets of more than one million US dollars. This means that almost every sixth person in the country is a millionaire. Luxembourg and Hong Kong also took the top positions in the rating.
In absolute terms, the USA remains the center of the world's richest - more than 22 million millionaires live here. In second place is China (6.3 million), followed by France (2.9 million), Japan, and Germany (2.7 million each).
In sub-Saharan Africa, and in some countries of South Asia and Central America, the share of millionaires is practically zero.
Experts attribute this difference to the level of economic development, the stability of the financial system, and the possibilities of capital accumulation. Switzerland, thanks to its banking system, political stability, and high standard of living, remains one of the most comfortable countries for millionaires.
