On December 3, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the details of the work being carried out to increase the production and export potential of the chemical industry, as well as to reduce costs.
A specific strategy for the development and digitalization of the chemical industry has been adopted in our country. The goal is to double the volume of this sector by 2030, increase the production of mineral fertilizers by 1.5 times, and bring exports to $1 billion.
Currently, 21 major projects worth 1 billion dollars are being implemented in the industry, and new initiatives worth another 4.5 billion dollars have been formed for the next three years. The main goal of the projects is to reduce costs through the introduction of energy-saving technologies and digitalization.
It was noted that currently, outdated capacities and high energy costs at large enterprises in the chemical industry contribute to low competitiveness. For example, in the production of nitrogen fertilizers, energy costs account for 55 percent of the cost.
At the same time, it was revealed that the demand and logistical capabilities of neighboring countries are not being fully utilized. The possibility of doubling the production of new types of products and exports through the deep processing of local raw materials was indicated.
This year, new projects have been launched in Tashkent, Navoi, and Jizzakh regions, and the production of new types of mineral fertilizers and products with high added value has begun. The necessary calculations are being carried out to increase the export of these products.
Next year, it is planned to grow 4.5 million tons of cotton.
The President assessed the chemical industry as a sector of strategic importance in the country's economy and gave specific instructions on increasing export potential and creating new jobs.
