Crypto-funded Fairshake PAC wins in US primaries

The cryptocurrency industry-backed Fairshake PAC and its affiliates have secured significant victories in primaries across three US states. The industry spent a total of $20 million on these races, strengthening the positions of candidates favorable to their interests. This result signals the growing political influence of the crypto sector ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, according to Cointelegraph.com reports.

Fairshake is primarily funded by major companies like Ripple Labs and Coinbase. It operates through subsidiary committees, Defend American Jobs, which supports Republicans, and Protect Progress, which assists Democrats. In the current elections, four Republicans and one Democrat won their districts in Georgia and Kentucky, while one candidate in Alabama advanced to a runoff.

According to Federal Election Commission data, Protect Progress spent over $4.2 million for Democratic candidate Jasmine Clark in Georgia. Defend American Jobs directed $7.2 million to support Andy Barr in Kentucky and $7.4 million for Barry Moore in Alabama. Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter called these results a clear victory for crypto leaders nationwide.

Fairshake has announced that it currently has a massive budget of $193 million at its disposal. These funds will be used to combat anti-cryptocurrency politicians and promote leaders who support blockchain technology in the future. Nevertheless, not all investments are successful; for instance, in Illinois, some candidates managed to win despite opposition from the crypto-PAC.

Additionally, in Texas, the Protect Progress committee is spending millions of dollars to unseat politicians like Al Green, who have voted against crypto assets. Green is known for opposing legislation regulating stablecoins and the digital asset market. The crypto industry continues to support new candidates open to innovation to replace such politicians.
