Kefir is a drink we’ve known since childhood — it improves digestion, boosts the immune system, and is rich in vitamins. But in recent months, it has become a real “superfood” in the West, reports Peopletalk.
The boom started after Vladimir Putin mentioned in an interview that he always keeps kefir in his fridge. European and American bloggers became interested and began replacing matcha with kefir. In US supermarkets, the price reaches $5, and on TikTok, nearly 70,000 videos have been posted under the hashtag #Kefir.
Experts and influencers highlight kefir’s high probiotic content, noting that it can help with weight loss, improve skin condition, and regulate blood sugar levels. Smoothie recipes with kefir have also gained popularity — mixing it with fruits, honey, and water.
However, doctors remind that moderation is key — like any product, excessive consumption of kefir may have negative effects.
