Scientists have proven that coffee is beneficial for heart health

Research conducted by researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, and the University of Adelaide, Australia, has shown that coffee consumption can be not only safe but also beneficial for heart function, reports JAMA magazine.

Experts have found that coffee can reduce the risk of the most common heart rhythm disorder - atrial fibrillation. This disease leads to an accelerated and uneven heartbeat, resulting in an increased risk of stroke or heart failure.

Previously, cardiologists advised such patients to abstain from caffeine. However, new scientific evidence has shown that just drinking a glass of coffee reduces the likelihood of developing fibrillation by 39 percent.

The study included 200 patients diagnosed with fibrillation. They were divided into two groups: the first drank coffee every day, and the second refused caffeine for six months. All participants underwent electrocardioversion to restore heart rhythm.

According to the results, regular coffee drinkers had a significantly lower risk of arrhythmia recurrence. Scientists explained this by the anti-inflammatory effect of coffee and the reduction of sweets and energy drinks that overload the heart.

According to the authors of the study, moderate coffee consumption can be one of the natural and effective ways to preserve heart health.
