How dangerous is taking a selfie with your fingers?

Taking selfies while showing your fingers can be dangerous. Experts advise caution with high-resolution photos posted online, especially those where fingers are clearly visible.
The reason is the potential to reconstruct biometric data, specifically fingerprints, from such images. Researchers at Japan's National Institute of Informatics previously reported that fingerprints could be extracted from photos featuring the 'V' sign.
They state that fingerprints can be captured in photos taken with high-quality cameras and good lighting. In recent years, artificial intelligence technologies have further increased this risk. Chinese experts claim that AI can be used to clarify and reconstruct fingerprints from ordinary selfies. However, experts also emphasize that this process is not simple, requiring high-quality images, specialized software, and technical expertise.
Nevertheless, it is recommended to be cautious with close-up selfies posted on the internet.
