A major fraud case involving the deception of citizens with promises of employment in South Korea has been uncovered in Uzbekistan. According to investigation data, the suspects gained the trust of 63 citizens and swindled them out of approximately 409,000 USD.
An investigation conducted by the Surkhandarya Regional Department under the Prosecutor General's Office revealed that X.Sh., the founder of a non-governmental educational institution named 'K.M.', and other individuals conspired to defraud citizens.
It is reported that they promised to send people to work in South Korea. Citizens hoping to work abroad, earn a good salary, and support their families trusted these claims and handed over large sums of money to the suspects.
The victims include 63 citizens living across 6 regions. It is alleged that the suspects gained their trust and obtained a total of 408,800 USD through various promises. This amount indicates the significant scale of the case.
It is noted that the primary suspect, X.Sh., has a prior criminal record. This may be one of the factors examined specifically during the investigation process.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident under the article of the Criminal Code concerning fraud. Investigative actions are currently underway. Law enforcement agencies are conducting inquiries to identify other individuals involved, trace the movement of funds, and fully determine the damages suffered by the victims.
Experts are urging citizens to be cautious when considering offers for employment abroad. Any job placement service must be carried out based on official documents, licenses, and legal contracts. Promises such as 'we will send you quickly,' 'there is a guarantee,' or 'pay the money upfront' are often signs of fraud.
In short, dozens of citizens dreaming of high earnings by working in Korea have fallen victim to deception. This incident serves as another reminder of an important truth: when it comes to working abroad, one should rely only on official channels, verified organizations, and legal contracts. Trust is good, but documentation is better.
