Western intelligence agencies: Putin is not ready to make concessions in negotiations with Ukraine
Bloomberg, citing Western intelligence sources, reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin is not ready to make concessions in negotiations to end the war with Ukraine. The sources said that the Kremlin refuses to compromise on the issues of occupied territories, the deployment of European peacekeeping forces and Ukraine's neutrality.

Putin's position and analysis of Western intelligence services

Western intelligence sources reported that before entering into negotiations, Putin made "maximalist" demands that Ukraine and Western countries would not accept. He also made it clear that he was ready to continue the war if he did not achieve his goals.

Bloomberg notes that the conclusions of Western intelligence agencies contradict US President Donald Trump's statement that Putin is ready for peace. Trump told reporters on March 7 that "Honestly, it's difficult to work with Ukraine because they don't have a strong negotiating position."

Kremlin response and Ukrainian negotiations

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied such information from Western intelligence agencies. He noted that in order for Ukraine to start negotiations on a peaceful resolution of the conflict, "Kiev must first take a step" and that Russia favors diplomatic solutions.

"Russia seeks peace, and we prefer to achieve our goals through diplomatic means," Peskov said.

Important talks are being held between representatives of Ukraine and the United States on March 11 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington is considering the possibility of resuming military assistance to Ukraine depending on the results of this meeting. Also, according to the Financial Times, Ukraine will put forward a proposal for a partial ceasefire with Russia at the talks in Jeddah.

What is expected from the negotiations?

Putin's position remains tense for Ukraine and the West. By declaring its readiness for negotiations, Russia is actually trying to force Kiev to take the first step.

Depending on the outcome of the talks in Jeddah, the strategy of the US and Ukraine may change. If Kiev puts forward a proposal for a partial ceasefire, this can be considered the first stage of starting peace talks with Russia.

However, Western intelligence agencies say that Putin's unwillingness to make any compromises may further complicate the negotiation process. Based on this, it remains unclear how Ukraine and its Western partners will engage Russia in negotiations.
